Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the life blood of every civic organization.  Your theatre is run nearly entirely by volunteers.  Performers only make up a small percentage of our volunteer need.

There are dozens of vital behind-the-scenes jobs that must be done, from electrical and construction work to clerical and administrative duties, all of which are essential to providing the Valley with quality live performances.  The level of time our volunteers commit varies, depending on whether they want to be a part of a single show or would prefer to help keep us up and running throughout the year.  Feel free to ask any staff person as we are here to answer any questions you may have!

The Lewiston Civic Theatre has many exciting volunteer opportunities.  We are always looking for a few good men and women to help out with activities other than being onstage.  We have jobs for people of all ages and skill level.  If you are interested in volunteering you can contact the box office at 208.746.3401 between 3 pm and 6 pm, Monday through Friday.  Membership may be required for some volunteer activities and is encouraged for everyone in the community.

"Front of the House" Volunteer Coordinator

The Lewiston Civic Theatre needs your help.  We are looking for a “front of the house” Volunteer coordinator.  Duties would include finding volunteers to help us with ushering for the productions and to help with selling concessions.  This is an unpaid position but a very important one.  If you are interested in helping out a great company please contact us at lctboxoffice@gmail.com or (208) 746-3401.

Usher/House Manager

If you are interested in helping with the show, but are not interested in being a production assistant or being onstage, usher and house managers are always needed.  Ushers help seat patrons and clean up the theatre at the end of the evening.  House Managers are in charge of making sure the ushers know what their duties entail and make sure the performance runs smoothly from the audience’s point of view.  The Civic Theatre offers training sessions for house management and ushers.  Ushers and House Managers get to see the production for free.  lctboxoffice@gmail.com

Concessions

Concessions workers set up and sell goodies prior to the show and during intermission.  Concessions usually run best with 2 – 3 people max.  Concessions volunteers are expected to make popcorn, set up, sell, tear down, count money and lock up at the end of the night.  Concessions volunteers get to see the production for free. lctboxoffice@gmail.com

Production Assistance

Production assistants includes those interested in the technical side of the theatre in positions such as light and sound board operators, spot lighters, stage managers and stage crew.  You do not need to have prior experience to help out with a production.  The theatre is a family and we are all ready and willing to help newcomers learn to be a part of the team.  Props are also a big part of any production and people who are willing and able to help find props are always appreciated.  Those with skills in hair or make-up design may be needed to help with shows that have period-specific or special effects hair and make-up.  Those interested in helping with costuming will be working with the Costume Team.  Costumers help find, make or repair costumes for productions and events.  Those with skills in sewing are especially important to the costuming department. lctboxoffice@gmail.com
